But the security industry has been spending counterfeit tokens — compliance checkboxes, annual training videos, policy documents nobody reads. The real denominations are attention (what you notice), frequency (how often you notice it), and belief (whether you act on what you notice). Security awareness is not a training program. It is a monetary system. And like all monetary systems, it inflates when debased and strengthens when respected.
Attention: the eye denomination
Attention is the first currency. Before a threat can be detected, someone must be looking. Before a signal can be classified, someone must be present to receive it.
