The share-pool view treats it as a value stream: oversight protects the pool from the agent’s failure modes, and that protection deserves a share of the pool’s returns. The event-based ledger turns oversight from a time blob into a contribution stream. The human’s weekly review of ten agent outputs, with two corrections, becomes ten logged events with two recorded values. An agent with zero oversight produces output of quality Q with failure rate F. An agent with good oversight produces output of quality Q’ with failure rate F’ — where Q’ is higher and F’ is much lower. The oversight’s value is the difference between the two pools: (Q’ – Q) minus the cost of the oversight itself. The multiplier view explains why oversight deserves a share rather than a fee. A fee (the human charges the pool per hour) prices the effort but not the effect. A share (the human’s pool percentage reflects oversight quality) prices the effect — the better the oversight, the larger the pool, the larger the human’s return. Aligning the human’s compensation with the pool’s quality is the entire point. ## The Oversight Ceiling Oversight has diminishing returns. The first hour of review catches most of the critical errors; the tenth hour catches almost nothing. The pool’s autonomy is not binary; it is a function of oversight need. An agent that needs little oversight (low failure rate, high reliability) can run with a small human share for oversight — most of the pool going to reinvestment and the agent’s own credit. An agent that needs heavy oversight keeps the human’s share large. The pool’s split formula, weighting oversight by measured effect, automatically prices autonomy. The human does not need to declare “this agent is autonomous”; the ledger shows it, because the oversight contribution has shrunk to near zero and the split has shifted accordingly.
