The most novel use of the simulation layer is not testing models of agents — it is letting agents test models of business. In the sandbox, agent-vendors try pricing strategies, agent-buyers react, and agent-operators run the business — all before real money moves. The loop is the bridge between the simulation futures (SIM series) and the worked business examples (EX series): every EX example in this round is a model that runs in the sandbox first.

The loop, step by step

Step one: encode the business model as a world — entities (customers, products, meters), rules (tiers, discounts, churn), and agents (buyers with budgets, vendors with floors). Step two: run the world forward under scenarios and record what the agents do — which tiers they choose, when they churn, what they will pay. Step three: score the run (coherence, economics) and iterate the model until the sandbox says it works. Step four: promote the model to a canary pilot with a bounded budget (SIM-1, SIM-5). Step five: feed the live results back into the simulation so the next iteration starts smarter.

Why agents, not spreadsheets

A spreadsheet models a market as equations; agents model it as behavior. The difference matters when the market is adversarial or adaptive: buyers who game the tiers, vendors who undercut, churn that clusters. Agent-based simulation captures those dynamics because the agents are the model — they adapt, defect, and surprise in ways a fixed equation cannot.
